[Invitation to event]: ASC x Lagoom Clothing Swap

Dear ASC members, Our first event of the new semester will be taking place on October 16th! We are collaborating with Lagoom, a clothing swap app, to organize a clothing swap event so that you can clean out your closet and exchange them for other pre-loved items; and to of course prolong the life cycle of clothes. Come over to join our first in person event! Register here: https://forms.gle/J5fZDBG9MyUMTHrK7 How to participate: - Bring the items that you no longer use to the venue - Exchange them for swapping points - Use your points to get other pre-loved garments from other participants. Please note that all items must be in good condition as they should bring joy to someone else =) The event is assisted by Lagoom - clothes swapping app, and a project by Aalto’s alumni. To simplify the process, you can now download the Lagoom app and do the pre-swap. - Upload photos of your clothes to the app before the event and have your points assigned to you in advance. - You can use points to reserve ítems that you like and then pick them up at the event! - With the app, you can exchange your clothes at any time with other Lagoom community members. The app is available on App Store and Google Play. Downloading the app is optional. You can just come and swap your clothes in a traditional way. The Aalto Sustainability Club and Lagoom Team will be there to help. [image: ASC Summer.jpg] Hello, Dear Sustainability Enthusiasts, With this message, we would like to say thank you for being with us in the past semester. It was not an easy period for all – the pandemic limited life in many ways. Our purpose was to organize events on relevant and meaningful topics that would not only support your learning and open new perspectives regarding sustainability but also let you speak out and e-meet like-minded people. It was great to see attendees from very different programs of Aalto University as well as those who joined the events from outside the university. We appreciate your feedback, time, and participation during the events and discussions that we had with start-up leaders, corporate managers, and professors. Indeed, Q&A sessions were as valuable and insightful as the presentations from the sustainability experts. Looking back, we had the pleasure to host Solar Foods, iFarm, Neste, Valmet, Finnair, Kesko, Handelsbanken & We Did It Our Way. We also organized two movie screenings, invited Professor Kaustia, and collaborated with the Aalto Debating Society. Following the vision of inclusivity and the multidisciplinary nature of sustainability, we changed our club's name to the Aalto Sustainability Club to welcome people of all backgrounds who are interested in discussing a wide range of topics about sustainability. Hello ASC members, We have an exciting event coming up next week on the 4th of June, 18:00-19:00! We have joined forces with the Aalto Debating Society to host Tina Karme, Co-Founder and CEO of Sustory, to talk to us about Nordic leadership and sustainability through storytelling. She will tell us how storytelling can be used as a tool for a more sustainable world and the value of Nordic leadership. The event will include short presentations by both clubs, followed by a talk about sustainability expert Tina Karme, and we will end with a short discussion. The purpose of this event is to introduce Rethinking Economics (RE) Finland and what it aims to achieve in the near future. We will also introduce the wider audience to the international organization. The group currently consists of a variety of graduate students, professionals and doctoral researchers, and new members are very welcome. For those who are not familiar with the organisation, Rethinking Economics started about a decade ago, in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis, a crisis that showcased the centrality of economics to our societies while also exposing the *many failures of conventional economic thinking*. Our international network campaigns for better explanations in economics. *Our vision is of a discipline that is pluralist, applied, critical and diverse*. Rethinking Economics connects and discusses with people globally, participates in curriculum reforms, inspires debates on what economics is today and on how to bring about the change needed for the economics of tomorrow. Schedule of the event: · *Introduction*: what is RE; and our objectives and activities in Finland. · *Short lecture*: ice-breaker interactive quiz; a brief overview of what is the meaning of pluralism in economics. · *Open debate*: Q&A about RE, followed by a guided discussion on transforming economics. · *Wrap-up*: upcoming events and how to participate in RE-Finland. We have changed the club's name! SBC --> ASC

Dear members, We have officially changed the name of the club to the *Aalto Sustainability Club*, as per the Association Meeting on the 19th of April! You will no longer be SBC members, but will now be ASC members! We are very excited about this change and believe that this is a positive step forward in engaging even more students in the discussion about sustainability. While we will still be hosting events concerning sustainability in business, we are also broadening the scope of the club to also include other aspects of sustainability in our events. Our aim is to reach the entire university and changing our name will hopefully help in this endeavour. Over the next coming days, you will see the name and logo change on our social media, on the AYY and KY website and in all other respective ways.
