The Newsletter collects together all the general things you should remember, as well as information about events organized by PT, CHEM, and other organizers. Additionally, there is information about Fuksi Points and upcoming possibilities to collect them. There’s a lot to read through, but we recommend looking through the newsletter carefully. You can also find relevant information on Telegram via Captains’ Channel and PT’s Information Channel, as well as PT’s own weekly newsletter.

I        Common things to remember

1.     Get your PT’s membership

If you didn’t pay the membership fee for Prosessiteekkarit, you can fill the membership application here. The payment information will be sent to your email address.

2.     PT’s weekly newsletter for members

You can join the PT mailing list at https://list.ayy.fi/mailman/listinfo/pt-info. This mailing list is used to inform members about upcoming events and other current affairs. A weekly bulletin is sent to the list every Monday, and by reading it actively you will be aware of the current student activities of the association and the rest of Otaniemi.

3.     PT’s Telegram-group and information channel

Do you want to follow and participate in discussions regarding all PT members? Do you want to hear the ideas and thoughts of students from other classes as well? To do this, there is #PT, a common Telegram group to all PT members.

You can join the General Discussion Group #PT on Telegram from this link. The group is for both formal information and informal discussion. Please read the group rules when you join the chat.

In addition, PT has its own one-way information channel on Telegram, which works with the same principle as Captains’ Inform. It’s used for informing about events and condensing the weekly newsletter for all members. You can follow the information channel
here.

4.     PT x TiK Regular Sport Sessions

Pack your indoor shoes and head to the ball sports hall of Otahalli every thursday at 21-22! There you will be able to play ball games with TiK and other PT members. The sport will change every week.

5.     Associations PauseTime on Wednesdays

Looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Take a well-deserved break and come to the pHuone to participate in Association’s PauseTime! 🥰☕️

Common PauseTimes will be organized every Wednesday from 16:15 onwards. Any exceptions will be announced. From 16:15 to 18:00, there will always be someone from the board so you can for example easily buy overall patches or get points for your point card during that time. Depending on the wishes of the people present, the break can be spent by playing games, having chit chat with a nice cup of coffee/tee on the side or even watching a film. Come to meet old and new PT-friends and make yourself at home in the association's living room!

From participating in three PauseTimes you can get a Fuksi Point!

6.     Pay the students’ healthcare fee if you haven’t already!

In 2022, the student healthcare fee in higher education is EUR 35.80 per term. It is paid to Kela once per term (spring and autumn), i.e., twice a year. Students are not billed for the fee but are expected to pay it on their own initiative. The amount that must be paid is defined in a Government Decree and may vary from year to year. More information can be found here. The deadline for the payment was 30.9. but you can still do it if you didn’t already!

The event begins with a dignified Grand Opening at the amphitheatre (again) and the lighting of the non-Olympic flame! Arrive to Alvari square on the 20th of September at 17:00 and prove your superiority over the  other guilds!

After the event you can come to Rantasauna, where the ISOs have warmed up the Sauna on and prepared piles and piles of pancakes for us (pancake = Lettu, hence the name of the event) Attending the event will earn you a Fuksi Point

NOTE! THIS EVENT IS ENTIRELY ALCOHOL-FREE

4.     FuksiSitz 22.9.

*NOTE! This event will be held mostly in Finnish, there will be an English Bachelor FuksiSitz held entirely in English on the 22nd of October!*

On the 22nd of September, the PT FuksiSitz will be held in Servin Mökki (Smökki). The FuksiSitz will be the first sitz you attend, and a unique opportunity to introduce yourself to the rich and varying sitz- and singing culture of Otaniemi. FuksiSitz are a formal event with a three course meal, music performances and much more!

Before the sitz there will be an optional cocktail event held in the Museum of Student Life (Jämeräntaival 3). The cocktail event starts at 5pm, and you can come whenever you like and have a look around. The main event starts at 6.30 pm sharp at Smökki when the gong is rung. After the main event, the Afterparty will also be held in Smökki. The event will cost 20€ in its entirety and payment information will be delivered via email after the registration closes.

  1. CHEM-appro 27.9.

The School of Chemical Engineering has its own playful appro, CHEM-Appro, that will come again to the Otaniemi area!

During the appros, you will be able to get to know more of CHEM's own committees and guilds, as well Otaniemi´s bars and shops through a playful checkpoint tour.

Appros are events organized especially among university students, where you can tour different points or bars and enjoy an activity/refreshment at each point. During the year, several appros are organized and the most well-known are the Poli and Dipoli appros.

CHEM-Appro itself is implemented in a BYOB (bring your own bottles/beer) style. At bars you are naturally not allowed to have your own drinks. You can also attend with non-alcoholic beverages or you can just come to complete the checkpoints without drinking.

The afterparty will be at Smökki!

The event is open for all CHEM, and no matter the academic age, the possibility for participation is ensured with quotas in the registration.

The registration will open on Wednesday 21.9. at 12:00 here: https://www.prosessiteekkarit.fi/ilmo/

Anna: Phew, what a weekend! This was truly an appropriae way to celebrate our association, thank you again to all of you who came to help! We couldn’t have done it without you :) Next year you’ll get to be the ones to celebrate! This week brings a nice change, we have PauseTime, sports events, sits… a little something for everyone! If the melodies to the songs seem intimidating, you can listen to some of the more traditional ones from Polyteknikkojen Kuoron Kirkasta lasia (Note, this does not give an accurate picture of what these songs sound like at sitsit)

Eetu: Wow some heat got transferred in Saturdays Heat Transfer! Starting from Monday will begin a quite busy week, and we all should remember to take care of our personal wellbeing! Luckily this week has a bunch of fun events coming: We can get a little bit of exercise in Tuesdays Lettucup, and with the Sitz training we can make sure that we can fully enjoy all the fun Sitzs in the future! I’m sure you have gathered a bunch of Fuksi points, make sure you fill up your Point Card every once in a while!
