Captains’ Weekly Newsletter #2

HeiMoi!

You’re looking at the second Captain’s Weekly Newsletter of the year! The Newsletter collects together all the general things you should remember, as well as information about events organized by PT, CHEM, and other organizers. Additionally, there is information about Fuksi Points and upcoming possibilities to collect them. There’s a lot to read through, but we recommend to look through the newsletter carefully. You can also find relevant information on Telegram via Captains’ Channel and PT’s Information Channel, as well as PT’s own weekly newsletter.

Remember to apply for PT’s membership here if you haven’t yet. Also, remember to join the PT Fuksis 2022 and Captains’ Channel  -Telegram groups.

I        Common things to remember

1.     Get your PT’s membership

If you didn’t pay the membership fee for Prosessiteekkarit, you can fill the membership application here. The payment information will be sent to your email address.

2.     PT’s weekly newsletter for members

You can join the PT mailing list at https://list.ayy.fi/mailman/listinfo/pt-info. This mailing list is used to inform members about upcoming events and other current affairs. A weekly bulletin is sent to the list every Monday, and by reading it actively you will be aware of the current student activities of the association and the rest of Otaniemi.

3.     PT’s Telegram-group and information channel

Do you want to follow and participate in discussions regarding all PT members? Do you want to hear the ideas and thoughts of students from other classes as well? To do this, there is #PT, a common Telegram group to all PT members.

You can join the General Discussion Group #PT on Telegram from this link. The group is for both formal information and informal discussion. Please read the group rules when you join the chat.

In addition, PT has its own one-way information channel on Telegram, which works with the same principle as Captains’ Inform. It’s used for informing about events and condensing the weekly newsletter for all members.
You can follow the information channel here.

4.     PT x TiK Regular Sport Sessions

Pack your indoor shoes and head to the ball sports hall of Otahalli every thursday at 21-22! There you will be able to play ball games with TiK and other PT members. Next time we'll be playing basketball or badminton. The sport will change every week.

5.     Pay the students’ healthcare fee if you haven’t already!

In 2022, the student healthcare fee in higher education is EUR 35.80 per term. It is paid to Kela once per term (spring and autumn), i.e., twice a year. Students are not billed for the fee but are expected to pay it on their own initiative. The amount that must be paid is defined in a Government Decree and may vary from year to year. More information can be found here. The deadline for the payment was 30.9. but you can still do it if you didn’t already!

II       Events arranged by PT and CHEM

1.     Otatarha Grand Prix -lecture 13.9.

The traditional Otatarha Grand Prix is held on the last day of September, and you as fuksis have to build a cart! For this job you have to be thoroughly coached and trained, and TuNa is hosting an information lecture about it after your Principles of General and Organic Chemistry lecture on tuesday! So sit tight after your lecture and have your notebooks ready to go :)

2.     Catalysis 15.9.

As Lämmönsiirto week is already just around the corner, it’s good to recall how you celebrate when someone turn 10-year-old – luckily, we have Catalysis!

Does your inner child miss fishing game and amazing prizes? What about board games and pinning the donkey tail? Or perhaps palju and sauna? Then you should head to Catalysis on Thursday 15.9. from 17-22 to the Otaniemi Rantasauna to remind you how amazing children's parties can be! Some snacks available!

The event is free and open for all PT members.

You can earn the Lämmönsiirto Party -fuksi point from this event!

If you have any questions regarding the your work shift or the event in general, send a message to the Lämmönsiirto Master on Telegram @TorpedoBoi

4.     Sitz Training 19.9

The Fuksi Sitz are rapidly approaching, but what even are Sitz? Who sits where, who raises their glass to who, and why the heck is everyone singing all the time, when do I get to eat???

No worries, TuNa is in charge of introducing you thorouhgly to this gem of Teekkari culture! The training will be arranged in the form of an info lecture during your school day, more information will be posted in next week’s newsletter as well as the Captain’s Channel!

Even if you are not attending the Fuksi Sitz themselves, it’s still good to attend this lecture if you are interested in participating in other sitz in the future :) Attending the training also earns you a fuksi point!

Arrive to Alvari square on the 20th of September at 17:00 and prove your superiority over the  other guilds!

After the event you can come to Rantasauna, where the ISOs have warmed up the Sauna on and prepared piles and piles of pancakes for us (pancake = Lettu, hence the name of the event)

V      Greetings

Anna: Right, so it seems like school started :D Last week was spent mostly in organising larger fuksi events, it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces at Tuesday’s Aalto Party and Thursday’s CityOrienteering! I spent the weekend practicing my Swedish skills at TF’s Phuxintagning, based on which I should probably retake my Swedish language course :)) Luckily next week is Annual Ball week and we finally get to celebrate our 10-year-old association! In honour of this, we could spend this week listening to the unofficial favourite song of the association, Paramore’s Misery Business.

Eetu: Actual school has now started! All my courses seemed pretty chill, and I’m actually genuinely having a good time going to school! Last week as a whole was great, and it has been very nice seeing you at pHuone! Next week it’s time for Lämmönsiirto week, and I'm really looking forward to celebrating our Associations 10th annual ball! This weekend I’ve been focused on my wellbeing, and I’m sure next week I’ll want to also :D.
