Dear EESTEC-ers,

We are proud to say that our event “JAZZ DO IT!” is becoming tradition. Since it was great last year, we have decided to do it again! That's why we are inviting you to join us at the biggest jazz event in Southern and Eastern Europe "Nišville jazz festival". Together we will enjoy the good jazz sound accompanied with great atmosphere that only EESTEC exchange can provide. Organized in the medieval fortress  and visited by more than 100.000 people only last year, Nišville hosted some of the biggest stars of jazz music: Candy Dulfer, Grace Kelly Band, Incognito, Solomon Burke, Benny Golson, De Phazz, Roy Hargrove... This year there is no exception because Steve Hans Dulfer, Sly&Robbie, Mungo Jerry, Tom Harrell, Rick Margitza and 50 other bands on 5 different stages will jazz it up for us!

Regular price for this festival is about 50 Euros, but as our guest you are getting it for free :)

And you will also learn some things about acoustics and making music.

But, that’s not all. The City of Niš has great cultural and historical heritage. Serbia is birthplace of 17 Roman emperors, and one of the most important persons in European history, emperor Constantine the Great, was born in Niš (roman name NAISSUS) in 272AD.

You will also visit a Fortress of Niš, where “Nišville jazz festival” takes place. The fortress exists at this place for more than 2000 years, and has layers from different historical periods. That’s because Niš is on the road that connects Europe with Middle East (in roman times this road was called VIA MILITARIS), so many civilizations passed here and they left some trace in the fortress. It’s in this condition since XVII century, and now it’s one of the best preserved fortifications of Ottoman style in Europe.

In Niš exists one unique monument in the world, Skull Tower, which was built from skulls of the warriors who died in the Čegar battle in the 1809. You will also visit a Čegar monument where this battle took place.

We’ll show you one relaxing place, Niška Banja spa which has radioactive healing water and we’ll go swimming there with a lot of EESTEC spirit!

And if you think that we only have history, you’re wrong, because Niš is known as town where you can have a lot of fun. We have centuries old hedonist legacy! Are you brave enough to try our traditional drink rakija? And the best BBQ in the world including pljeskavica will help your body to work well with all that alcohol. There won’t be a single moment that you’ll be hungry, because Serbians like good food in big quantities. All that you will be able to taste in a traditional ambient at the special night in kafana. If you don’t know what merak is (that word has no translation to other languages), you will learn here!

So the crazy summer cocktail with... traditional Serbian drinks and food… plenty of great music… nice town… a lot of EESTEC spirit… Mix all that in a summer temperature and share it with good orgaNICEers.

What are you waiting for?

JAZZ DO IT! 2011.
