-------- Original Message --------
Dear EESTECers,
From this month the Newsletter will be different, there will be two
versions, one text sent by e-mail, like so far, and the other one will
be with pictures. This month, the first HTML version was made by
Vladimir Delibasic, and our VC-IA Marija Jemuovic, we thank them for the
hard work. You see the Newsletter here:
http://galeb.etf.bg.ac.yu/~dv030439d/newsletter_dec07.html
I hope you will enjoy both Newsletters. Please send your comments, like
that we can keep the good things, and we will change what you will dislike.
Newsletter topics:
New Year's greeting
Board Change
Past Events
Local Events
Future Events
Hello all,
As the New Year here, on this last newsletter of 2007 and first in 2008,
we would like to greet you with the words from an EESTECer who managed
to express our feelings and wishes for the upcoming year in the best way:
Well dear EESTECer,
another year has come and gone. The holidays are here once again. We
hope you spend them with a smile on your face and a bounce in your step.
Don't worry about the future, for now; it's still a long way off. And
don't worry about the past, it is over and gone. Enjoy the here and now,
where ever it may be.
We wanted a nice, holidayish quote, but unfortunately those were all
sold out, so this will have to work:
May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back and
the sun upon your face and may the winds of destiny carry you aloft to
dance with the stars.
And smile please.
Thank you :)
Jure Forstneric
LC Ljubljana
Special thanks to Jure for his words

Let's take a look at what happened in EESTEC last month:
Board Change
LC Ljubljana, LC Cosenza, LC Tampere, LC Krakow, LC Belgrade, LC
Trieste, LC Budapest and LC Aachen elected their new board members. We
want to thank the old board members for their hard and dedicated work
and want to wish good luck to the new ones. Keep up good work!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
EESTEC Slogan
In addition to board changes, new slogan of EESTEC was elected by EESTEC
International Board from 64 slogan ideas came from 14 different LCs.
Official EESTEC slogan will be "POWER YOUR FUTURE" which was proposed by
Elena Diaconescu from LC Bucharest and for Junior LCs Faro and Lisbon
who invented the name. Also a big thanks to the one's who came up with
many great proposals for EESTEC Slogan!

Past Events
There were four events in December and all of them were very
successfully organized and the participants had great time and they
learned a lot. We had Plone my Web in Skopje, traditional Niko-Event in
Aachen and Go Farming in Belgrade. LC Belgrade was more hard working and
they also organized second ECM which was also their second event in one
month.
*Go Farming!*
LC Belgrade organized the event "Go Farming" between 2 and 9 of December
2007 which dealt with new Internet technologies and Linux web server farms.
*Plone My Web * * **3rd edition***
For 9 days, 12 participants and 3 Slovenian lecturers were exploring the
secrets of Plone in Skopje, and were developing the NGEP (Next
Generation EESTEC Portal)
www.eestec.net <http://www.eestec.net/>. The
mission was successfully completed, the work was done, participants are
now skilled in Plone, and very soon everyone will be able to check the
new updated site, along with the new draft-web sites for each LC and
Observer in EESTEC. We hope the next PloneMyWeb workshops will be as
successful as this one and the two previous ones in Ljubljana, and will
motivate people to join the EESTEC IT team.
* Niko-Meeting *
**Last month LC Aachen organized Niko-Meeting between 2 and 6 of
December 2007 which was another traditional event for EESTEC. This small
and nice exchange gave participants the chance to taste a Christmas
market atmosphere together when New Year is approaching instead of the
technical trainings that we have during workshops.
*EESTEC Chairpersons' Meeting 2007 *
LC Belgrade organized the second ECM between 10 and 16 of December 2007
which can be considered as one of the most important events of last
year. Chairpersons of all Local Committees were invited in order to be
trained, share experiences and contribute to the future development of
EESTEC.

Local Events
KONTEH07 - Novi Sad JobFair
EESTEC LC Novi Sad is very proud to be the organizer of KONTEH07 which
took place on Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad on 11th and 12th
December 2007. It is second time that LC Novi Sad was organizing this
event, with purpose of helping students of technical faculties to find a
job and companies to find best employees in this area. 15 companies from
region took participation. More than 600 students seeking for employment
have already left their CVs at the KONTEH website (
www.konteh.org
<http://www.konteh.org/> - unfortunately it is in Serbian only, but by
clicking on "Galerija" you can see the photos from the event :) The
event was well promoted among students and accompanied by presence of
the press. Coorganizer of the event was IEEE-ISBIR and we had 2 guests:
Yasemin Baser from Turkey and Andreas Koltes from Germany who held
presentation about ISBIR project during KONTEH. We had support of our
University, City Government and Government of Vojvodina. In LC Novi Sad
very first preparations for KONTEH started half a year ago; the
organizing committee was numbering 7 people; there were teams for FR,
PR, IT and logistics, each numbering more than 10 people; and the full
number of EESTECers from LC Novi Sad who helped this project to come
true is more than 60.
