About the Challenge24;
Challenge24 is back to give a chance to compare the skills of coders who seek interesting problems in a prestigious contest. The 8th BME International 24-hour Programming Contest is organized by the Electrical Engineering Students’ Hungarian Association and the Károly Simonyi College for Advanced Studies on the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
Teams of three can register until 17th Feburary, 2008 via the website of the contest: http://www.challenge24.org. After this the first, on-line round of the contest will take place at 24th February. The best thirty teams will be invited to the 24-hour long final to BME, between 2-4 May, 2008. Everybody will be allowed to compete with his own computer, some technical support, food and drink will be supplied. There are no restriction on the hardware, software or written materials, but the use of any outside help is strictly prohibited. Tasks will be created by PhD students of BME, so the contestants can expect interesting and difficult problems to solve, like in the previous years. To be successful on the contest, participants not only have to write program code fast and precisely, but they need to be familiar with topics of computer graphics, artificial intelligence, computer networks, and of course good team work is important too. The total value of awards exceeds 5,000 €, and the best team can also take home the Challenge24 Cup. Like the traditions of the contest, the organizers expect a lot of foreign contestants to apply: in the finals of 2007 contestants arrived from the United States, Austria, Netherlands, Poland, Latvia, Romania, Sweden, Serbia, Ukraine and Hungary, and returned home with great experience.
Further information about the contest, and the latest news are available on the official website: http://www.challenge24.org
