Monthly report-November
Dear EESTECers,
As cold arrive outside, we hope that inside your heart remains warm, full
of EESTEC spirit! Plus this is the perfect period to travel around and see
all the nice European cities in a cheerful atmosphere!
During November, there were plenty of tasks to be completed and definitely
it was one of the busiest months for International Board.
Firstly, we finalised the EU Grant application and after a lot of work, we
can claim that this year’s application is so thoroughly thought and checked
that we are confident about the results.
Additionally, the last preparations for ECM were also one important thing
that we were occupied with and we as we promised in the previous report,
this ECM is going to be amazing and now being in Eskisehir, we confirm that
all the preparations are going great.
One of the most important projects of EESTEC the last few years has been
finalised and launched during this month! This is Lykeion portal, a place
where students, universities and companies can reach each other. The
implementation of this project started from previous Board (thanks for your
work :) ) after several years of brainstorming and discussions on its
content. The result wouldn’t have been so great without the huge
contribution of Nedim Hadzic, Lykeion project coordinator in Chairman
Department, and whole Lykeion Team. The portal is continuously being
improved and further developed, so visit the lykeion
site<http://lykeion.eestec.net/>and let us know what you would like to
see on this.
See you in Eskisehir!

Hello dear EESTECers!
The time has come for LC Athens to announce its next workshop called ''*Think
Smart, Act Green*'', which will be held from *January 29th until February
5th*!
The subject of this workshop is (you guessed it right) *renewable forms of
energy*, a topic that concerns all of us. So the participants are going to
spend the week learning -from our best professors in our faculty-, about
how they work, what forms of renewable energy exist, and their importance
to today's world. But that's not all! We'll also visit the first energy
autonomous village in Greece!!
Moreover, concerning the practical part, participants will be divided into
groups and they will make solar-panel models, where the most effective
one's team will be awarded! ;)
There will be also trainings held by our famous trainers Thanos and
Grigoris!!
But really, have you ever met Athens by night??? This is another very
important reason to apply for this event! LC Athens will take care of you
every night and take you to the best places in Athens! (I'm not saying
anything more, there will be surprises! ;) )
You will also taste traditional Greek food , our famous ouzo and delicious
desserts :D
At the end of the workshop, we will have the chance to visit our beautiful
countryside and have almost an entire hotel to ourselves! Crazy partying,
anyone??!
Last but really not least, we're really pleased that our application for
the ''*Youth in Action*'' programme was accepted, so about *70% of the
travelling expenses will be refunded*!!
So what are you waiting for??
Just apply* *and take care of your board! :D

Dear EESTECers,
Would you like to get out of your daily routine and try something new?
Do you lure to get a sneak peak in the spectacular cutting edge robots?
Well, fasten your seat-belts because you are about to have the journey of
your lifetime in the Future Robot Republic of Macedonia or abbreviated
RoboMAC!
LC Skopje is proud to announce that in collaboration with IEEE for the
third time we are organizing the RoboMAC! It will take place from 19-th to
26-th of February in Skopje, with 30 international participants (EESTEC
people) and over 70 students from our faculty...
Yes you read that right!!! 30 EESTECers means this is the third biggest
EESTEC event after EESTEC Congress and ECM.
Now let us tell you a little bit about RoboMAC…
RoboMAC means students creating scientific robots using off-the-shelf
materials. What that means? That means that you will learn to build a robot
that will do a specific job, with only the materials that you can buy in
the local hardware store. Cool right !!! :D And at the end of the week in
the biggest closed sport venture in Macedonia - our national arena you can
start the thrilling competition and check out how good is your robot :D.
Racing, sumo wrestling, programming an AI task oriented algorithms, or
simply play “hide and seek” with your robots in a maze, and all that in
front of lot of audience and the media. It means you will be a TV star that
day in Macedonia. But that’s not creative enough ??? No problem !!! Use
your creative mind and take the challenge to program a Humanoid that will
be capable of doing some crazy stuff, like Macarena dance :D.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq1bkaMBp3w&feature=player_profilepage#t=156s
You don’t know how to do this, but you want to learn? That’s why we have
asked our professors from the robotics and AI (artificial intelligence)
departments to teach you, and show you everything.
Not ready to apply?
But wait !!! We haven’t told you about the fun part !!!
In Skopje we party only on New Year’s Eve and the days that end on “day”,
like MonDAY, TuesDAY,…., SunDAY. And bear to forget to visit the local
Kafanas. Also we promise to keep the tradition of organizing the glamorous
wine night where you will be enjoying best wines in Macedonia! We also want
to know more about your country, that’s why on the international party you
will have the chance to introduce us to some of your local drinks and
delicacies.
Don’t worry we didn’t forget about giving you a tour throughout Skopje. You
will be visiting:
The Old Bazar http://tinyurl.com/6cfmyy6
The Biggest Cross in the world on the top of mount Vodno, where you will
have a cup of coffee with the best view on Skopje
http://tinyurl.com/66gynduhttp://www.panoramio.com/photo/14942097http://www.panoramio.com/photo/14942204
The biggest statue of Alexander the Great in the world and its fountain
below (believe me the animation does not give it justice)

As you get it, we like big stuff so become part of the big fat RoboMAC…
…apply don't wait!

Monthly report- October
Dear EESTECers,
As autumn is a nice period to hang out with friends, you should also
reserve some time for your EESTEC family! This is exactly what
International Board was doing previous month along with a lot of work as
well!
During October, we had a lot of work to do starting from EU grant which was
announced in September and we were working a lot on this and preparing
everything to submit it next month.
We had the EU BOM in Novi Sad, where we had the chance to work intensively
in application, finalise texts and gather all of them in a consistent
document! We would like to thank LC Novi Sad for being such great hosts and
providing a great atmosphere for us to work!
Meanwhile, we would like to thank Giannis Ntousakis (LC Athens) for
representing EESTEC International in Autumn Meeting!
Additionally, in September preparations of ECM were a lot more intense in
order to ensure the best for all participants coming there, as well as for
EESTEC progress. While ECM 2011 is approaching we can only promise one
thing: This ECM is going to be unique and set very high standards for next
EESTEC events. Ready?
Not being limited to just 2 projects, during previous month, we worked a
lot in other projects as well, bringing fresh ideas and projects in EESTEC!
One of them is Android Competition, a competition organised for first time
in EESTEC! Android is a rapidly developing and spreading technology and
being aware of the abilities of our members, we decided to organise this
competition! We want to encourage all of you to get involved ;)
Apart form the above, this month was a great month, since a very big and
promising project started :D This is mentoring project, and Int. Board has
been working on that since SuBOM! Idea is to transfer knowledge among
EESTECers easier and help younger (J)LC members of the network to take
advantage of some technical knowledge we already have in other LC’s.
Even if this month, was hard-working, November will be even more
hard-working for Int. Board as well as for several of our project teams,
and most significantly the month that we will have ECM ;)
See you in Eskisehir!
Greetings,
Int. Board

We are excited to announce that this winter all roads will lead to the
capital of Serbia <http://www.tob.rs/en/index.php>. This December, *LC
Belgrade* is organizing our eagerly awaited winter exchange *“Freeze the
Time!”*. The spotlight is on showing our fellow EESTECers why Begrade is
known as “the city that never sleeps”.
No matter when, if it is during the night or day, our participants will get
the chance to see how hedonism is present in all aspects of life in
Belgrade. Walking through the New Year’s decorations of Knez Mihajlova
street and visiting numerous restaurants, bars and clubs are excellent way
to enjoy Belgrade, especially when the end of the year is approaching.
Dressed in white, our city will show you that there is no such place in the
whole world where passion and European elegance is so naturally connected. But
don’t forget that you are coming to the land of Nikola
Tesla<http://www.tesla-museum.org/meni_en.htm> and
that’s why you will also have the chance to enter the brilliant mind of
this scientist. But that is not all! As the end of the year approaches, all
students in Belgrade, which of course includes you, prepare for the well
known costume ball <http://kst.etf.rs/?p=14&idv=2812> in our favourite
students’ club KST. So be ready to put some crazy costumes in your
suitcase. And in case you’ve missed the Suit up Day, don’t worry, LC
Belgrade is taking you to the traditional ball on our faculty where you’ll
get to show your moves on the dance floor.
Apart from world wide famous nightlife, you will have the chance to spend a
few days out of Belgrade, try out our delicious cuisine and of course
discover the spirit of
Serbia<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eASk9akIpvg&feature=related>
that
lies in a bottle of our national drink rakija.
Don’t think you’ve heard it all! We have plenty of surprises left for you.
Just remember, when you come to the White City, the clock stops, time
freezes and the party begins. Be ready for the Belgrade state of
mind<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAtf5obN3cc>

T4T – Training for Trainers is an international training event whose purpose
is gaining new EESTEC trainers and it is the starting point for EESTECers to
become a trainer.
EESTECers which participate in T4T will go through intensive trainings,
working sessions and practical parts and learn how to transfer knowledge,
which methodologies to use and, very important, how to deliver trainings!
As the transfer of knowledge is crucial for EESTEC, T4T is an event which
assures new generations to continue with developing and providing Training
Team services to EESTEC members. It is a stage through all Training team
members have to go in order to gain different soft skills like: leadership
skills, presentation skills, communication skills and much more!
Using these skills for transferring knowledge in EESTEC provides greater
quality of different activities which are being organized in International
and local levels.
During T4T, 9 days of a lot of work is waiting for you so you will need to
bring *a lot of positive energy* and *enthusiasm* in order to be effective
all the time and to be able to endure the T4T.
*Why become a Trainer? Why should you apply?*
There are definitely a lot of reasons to apply. Becoming a trainer gives you
an opportunity to contribute to EESTEC International, to contribute to LCs
and to contribute to yourselves!
As a trainer candidate (and optionally trainer) you will work in and create
a positive atmosphere during T4T and after. If you become a trainer (for
what you need to fulfill certain tasks) you will work on the transfer of
knowledge to other EESTECers and you will have an opportunity to improve on
personal level in different aspects.
The skills you gain while being a trainer are needed in all aspects of life
today and so in EESTEC. Because of that, members who participate in T4T have
a big opportunity to develop themselves and to give a great contribution to
the development of EESTEC!

The event offers a week of student conferences that will provide guidance in
